Turn on two-step sign-in
Protect your account with a 6-digit code from an authenticator app or by email, and let admins require it for the whole firm.
Turn it on for yourself
- Click your avatar > Profile.
- In the Two-step sign-in card, click Turn on two-step sign-in.
- Choose how you get your codes:
- Authenticator app (recommended): open an authenticator app on your phone, add an account and scan the QR code. Then type the 6-digit code the app shows.
- Email code: ProCharted emails you a code each time.
- Click Turn on.
- Save your Recovery codes somewhere safe. Each one lets you sign in once if you lose your phone or can’t get your email.
Sign in with a code
After your password, ProCharted asks for the code: – With an authenticator app, enter the 6-digit code for ProCharted. – With email, click Email me a code and enter the code you receive. It works for 10 minutes. – Tick Remember this computer for 30 days so you aren’t asked again on that computer. – Lost your phone? Click Use a recovery code.
Change or turn it off
In your Profile, the Two-step sign-in card lets you: – Change two-step method. – Get new Recovery codes. – Forget the computers you trust (Signed-in computers you trust: Forget all). Every computer then asks for a code at the next sign-in. – Turn off two-step sign-in (unless your firm requires it).
For admins: require it for everyone
- Click your avatar > Settings > Firm Details.
- In the Two-step sign-in card, turn on Require two-step sign-in for everyone in this firm and confirm with Require it.
At their next sign-in, everyone who hasn’t set it up yet is asked to Set up two-step sign-in before they can continue.
If a team member loses access to their codes, an admin can go to Settings > Team, open the person and click Reset two-step sign-in. They then set it up again at their next sign-in. The Team list shows who has two-step sign-in turned on.
